Since 2012 Sonice Development invents and builds kinetic artworks. In these installations Michael Haas connects two worlds – the digital and that of material. The artist works like an inventor. He creates an artistic system in which machines perform the evolution of the artwork. As the machine embodies the artist’s will, it works through him. The task of the artist is the organization of the artistic system.
These long-term works play with time and physics. They show a subtle balance of forces, often close to the improbable. The machines, tools and materials used are designed for their purpose. They are part of a recipe that involves the viewer. Who in turn can observe an artwork emerging which is understandable without prior knowledge. Its rules are essential and understood by intuition.
